

He attended Florence State and was in car sales in the Birmingham area for 45 years. Ralph was an active member at First United Methodist Church and the McDorman Sunday School Class for over sixty years. He enjoyed dancing and playing the piano. He also enjoyed playing cards with the same group of friends for forty years.
He is preceded in death by his parents - Elbert and Mellie Irvin; his sister - Jewel Evans; his brothers - Ray Irvin and Johnny Irvin; and his mother-in-law - Alice Snider.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years - Lorraine Irvin; his son Dr. Lee Irvin (Karla); his daughter - Sherry Coker (Buddy); his grandchildren – Christy Horner, Kim Sexton (Blake), Carolyn Irvin, and Kurt Irvin; and his great grandchildren – Cason Horner and Grant Sexton.
Funeral services will be at Elmwood Chapel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery on Thursday September 25. Viewing at 10:00am followed by service at 11:00am, Dr. Ralph Bates and Reverend Keith Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First United Methodist Church, Birmingham, AL.
