She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Peter James Velotas; and by a host of loving family and friends. Renee was preceded in death by her son, Alexander Peter Velotas, her mother, Violet Jean Rogowski and her father Jean Rogowski.
Renee was a very caring person and always put family and friends ahead of herself. Living predominately out of the Birmingham area and the state, she made it a point to stay in close contact and remain an integral part of the family. Renee carried this over to her friends and remained close to many as she and her husband relocated several times. They are all special to her. She spent time helping and caring for aging parents and in-laws and helped them through their difficult times. Renee loved animals and was especially fond of dogs which she had as companions for most of her life.
Renee has a very strong faith in the Lord and was looking forward to the day she could rejoin with Alex and her parents.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Johns Ridout’s Mortuary Elmwood Chapel with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. The Reverend Father Paul Costopoulos is officiating the service.
