

Richard (Dick) Konkler was born March 25, 1927 in Lancaster, OH to Edmund B Konkler and Clara H Fox. He returned to his heavenly Creator November 28, 2013 (Thanksgiving day) at 12:00 AM in Trussville, AL, attended at home by his devoted step-granddaughter Kolene Goubeaux. Dick grew up in Wooster, OH, graduated 1945 from Ohio State School for the Blind and studied at Ohio State University. Despite his damaged eyesight he built his own ham transmitter, “on the air” 1950-1962. He lived 7 years as a monk and electrician at the Abbey of New Clairvaux in Vina, CA. He married Margaret Butler of Wooster, OH in 1975 (deceased 1993). (Margaret was Kolene’s grandmother.) Dick is survived by Kolene and Isabella (Bella) Goubeaux, her brother Fred Butler and father Eugene Butler, two brothers Rev Paul Konkler of Vina, CA and Robert Konkler of Green Valley, AZ, one sister Rita Zambo (Ron) of Chiefland, FL, and 18 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Clara, his wife Margaret, one sister Mary Gertrude 1930, and brothers Edward Thomas 1932 and John 2010. His family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 1-2 PM at Roebuck Seventh Day Adventist Church with his service beginning at 2 PM with Elder Dave Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
