Robert Wayne Bridges went to be with the Lord Wednesday November 4, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents Grady and Ila Dean Bridges; and sister Melba Mayo. Mr. Bridges is survived by his wife Martha Self Bridges; son Jeffrey Warren Bridges (Kandel); daughter Christine Lea Lucas (John); grandchildren Robert B., Nolen III (Sabrina), Jeffrey Wayne Nolen (Susan), Amanda Jordan Elliott (Brent), Donald Justin Thrasher, Abby Claire Bridges, and Gavin Brooks Bridges; five great-grandchildren; and brother Eual Bayne Bridges.
Mr. Bridges was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force with 22 years of service with one year spent in Vietnam. He retired from UAB Hospital and was a member of The Healing Place Church where he was a Sunday school teacher.
Visitation will be Saturday 9:00 AM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM in Trussville Chapel. Interment will be at Clay United Methodist Church Cemetery.
