Jerry lived in Pinson, Alabama. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1952. He was a member and served as deacon and deacon chairman at First Baptist Church of Pinson. He was a Korean War Veteran. Jerry was a jack of all trades, with the majority of his time spent as a policeman and quality manager in the automotive industry. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Jaycees and Gideons.
Jerry is survived by his children, Dawn Gray (Roger), Janice Carpenter (Rodney), Sandra Leach (William), Robert Cannon, Jr., William Cannon, Marijen Ballard (Jason); and many additional children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren even if not by birth.
