On Sunday, August 2, 2020, Robert Wayne Hardy of Trussville, AL danced his way to Heaven. Bob was a man who fiercely loved God and his family, always taking the opportunity to encourage and support those close to him. As a senior football captain at Fairfield High School, he was selected to the first team All-Jefferson County football team and was also selected to the Alabama first team All-State squad. Mr. Hardy honorably served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was a former Trussville City Councilman and attended The First Baptist Church of Trussville. His greatest joys were watching his grandchildren participate in everything they did. He was very proud to have won the trophy for “Best Hugger” from The Magic City Boppers, a dancing club of which Judy and he were long time members. Now that his back has been perfected in Heaven, his persistent slice on the golf course has finally been corrected.
He is preceded in death by his parents James and Evelyn Hardy and his siblings James Allen Hardy and Mary Ann Fulks. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Judy Giddens Hardy, his sons Robert (Bobby) Wayne Hardy Jr. (Kimberlie) and Brian Allen Hardy, his daughter Bonnie Bass Darrow, his grandchildren Julia Hardy Oramas, Caroline Jean Hardy, Linleigh Brooks Hardy, Baylor Lewis Hardy, his great granddaughter, Emmi Jean Oramas, his sisters Sharron Hardy Kull and Donna Hardy Troncale and niece Shannon Giddens Princiott.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 beginning at 10 am and chapel services to follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Valhalla Cemetery. Rev James Long will officiate.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Big Oak Ranch, 250 Jake Mintz Road, Gadsden, AL 35905.
