Ronald Thomason

He is preceded in death by his parents, Irby Read Thomason, Jr. and Freida Thomason. Survivors include his children, Steve Thomason (Michele) and Melissa Phillips (Skyler); his grandchildren, Noah Phillips and Elliot Phillips; his brother, Arlen Thomason (Susie); his sisters, Cindy Savage (Bryan), Ramona Carmack, Tricia Thomason, and Dale Atkins (Larry).

Ron was a man of intelligence, kindness, and generosity. He grew up in Bessemer and Hueytown, Alabama, where he developed a resilience that stayed with him throughout his life. He joined the Air Force and went on to become an accomplished auto mechanic. Fueled by his love of learning, he later taught himself computer programming and became highly proficient through his own determination. Ron loved his family deeply and considered his children and grandchildren his greatest blessings. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures like watching The Andy Griffith Show, listening to Elvis, and spending time on the computer. Ron was kind and generous, often giving without hesitation. He was deeply loved and will be remembered for his heart.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, US, on March 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

A graveside service will be held at Rock Creek Church of God, 1001 Park Rd, Bessemer, AL 35023, US, on March 26, 2026, at 2:30 pm.
