
ELLIOTT, ROSIE "ROSE" GIBILISCO 86, of Hueytown, peacefully entered Paradise on Sept. 22, 2011. Rose was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed. We take comfort in knowing she is with Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Susie Daidone and Joe Gibilisco; her husband of 50 years, Bobby M. Elliott; sister, Pauline Robarge; brothers, Cero Gibilisco & Santo Gibilisco; niece, Connie Gibilisco Bray. Rose lived in Wylam and Ensley for many years before moving to Hueytown. She was a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Oakland Baptist, and Trinity Baptist in Ensley, and attended the Ladies Home League of the Ensley Salvation Army. She attended the Ensley Gospel Tabernacle for many years, where her good friend and neighbor, Sister Ella West, was pastor. Rose was the Wylam reporter for the Industrial Press for several years, Secretary of the Mother's Club in Ensley for many years in the 1950's. Later she worked at Sears downtown and Pizitz. After retiring, she was a volunteer at the VA Hospital and a Notary Public for many years and enjoyed using that as a means to help people. Rose was a caring and giving person who loved helping others and blessed many people through her writing ministry, and one of her greatest pleasures was sending Inspirational poems to her friends and family. One of her favorite scriptures was Eph.2:8-9. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing gospel hymns, and she was an avid reader of books that encouraged and inspired her. Her most cherished book was the Bible her son gave her. She enjoyed growing Cucuzzi's and always shared the seeds with others. Survivors include daughters, Bobbie (Bill) Burchfield and Susan (Wayne) Shoemaker of Hueytown; Linda Elliott Bodner of Shelby Co.; son, John (Donna) Elliott of Hueytown; grandchildren, Jessica Rose Bodner, Kevin Burchfield, Greg (Kristi) Jarrard, and Ashley Dawson Farr; great-grandson Caleb Jarrard, and great-granddaughter Morgan Beasley; sister, Teresa Goff; niece Susie Gibilisco Sullivan of Huntsville. Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 26 at 10:00 am at Elmwood Chapel followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am at Elmwood Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Winslett officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
