Roy C Spann

ROY C. SPANN, age 76 of Springville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kay Burke Spann; parents, Charles W. and Doris Johnson Spann; and brothers, Jackie Spann and Ronald Spann. He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Spann and Teresa Spann; sister, Yolanda Natividad; grandchildren, Andrew Dinsmore (Sara), Kristin Kelley and Sean Kelley; great-granddaughter, Ruby Dinsmore; and nephews, Marcus Natividad and Christopher Spann. Roy moved around as a child due to his father’s service in the Navy and attended Norview High School in Norfolk, VA and later studied criminal justice at The University of Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces as a Green Beret during Vietnam where he received 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. Roy retired as a Sergeant from Springville Police Department. He was a member of Springville Lodge 280, Alabama Purple Heart Association and the Blue Knights. He loved riding his motorcycle and his dogs, Harley and Sarge. His family will celebrate his life on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 9-10 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with a funeral service beginning at 10:00. Followed by a graveside service at Alabama National Cemetery beginning at 1:15.
