KOMATER, RUDOLPH ANDREW, age 89 of Birmingham, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Komater. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Frances Komater; sons, Paul Komater (Debbie), Christopher Komater, and Mark Komater (Keith Interrante); daughters, Carol Komater Hewitt (Bruce), June Komater (Kevin McClure), and Diane Komater; grandchildren, Aimee Cowles, Nicholas Komater, Megan Hewitt, Nathan McClure, Samuel McClure, Cassady Komater and Blake Komater; and great-grandchildren, Alexander Cowles and Luna Cowles. Rudy was a 1st generation Yugoslavian American born in Chicago, IL and served in the U. S. Army during the post WWII occupation. He retired as a metallurgical engineer. Rudy was a devout Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an award winning Toast Master’s Speaker and Amateur Photographer. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at St. Paul’s Cathedral beginning at 1:30 PM.
