DOWNS, RUTH H., age 88, of Leeds, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Downs, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Charles Downs (Lisbeth) and Russell Downs, Jr. (Patricia); daughter, Joyce Downs Lemley; brother, John Hardin (Mary); grandchildren, Holly McGraw, the late Kirt Beasley (Terri), Ruth Lemley, and Mark Lemley (Roxanne); great grandchildren, Paris Smith (Chris), Sarah Beasley, Emily Beasley, Luke Lemley, Daisy Lemley, Boden Lemley and Reine Lemley; great great-granddaughter, Savannah Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was a retired RN from UAB and a devoted member of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Leeds. Her family will receive friends on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 5-7 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. There will be a private graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
