Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard E. Fields; her brother, Wyatt Owens; and sisters, Esther Bernard and Ann Owens. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her sons, Mike Fields (Laurie) and Steve Fields; her granddaughter, Sarah Fields; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her memory.
Ruth was a charter member of Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church, where she joyfully served as a soprano soloist in the choir. Her voice and spirit uplifted countless hearts, and her faith was the foundation of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to your local food bank. Visitation will be held at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM. A private burial will take place at a later time.
Ruth’s life was a beautiful song of grace and love, and her memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
