Ruth Hager, 98, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on January 30, 1927 to Rolland Leroy and Beatrice Goldsmith in Atmore, Alabama. After graduating from Auburn University, she moved to Birmingham and hosted a local television series, “Your lookin’ at cookin’”, sponsored by the Alabama Gas Company.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Molly Higgins, great granddaughter, Natalie Higgins, and great grandson, Matthew Higgins, two nieces and three nephews.
She is preceded in death by her only child, Linda Pratt Mitchem, and her only grandson, Brad Mitchem.
Ruth was a loyal and much loved member of Dominion Baptist Church. When younger, she was a very knowledgeable antique collector, business owner and an avid MAH JONG player. But Ruth is best remembered for her deep faith and love of Jesus Christ. Her tenacious love for and faith in Christ was a bouy to her through the many varied providences of her long life and shone brighter and brighter to her very last days.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by Pastor Mark Liddle and his wife, Tara Liddle and the church family at Dominion Baptist Church.
