Ruth Spina was born to Ethel and Larkin Loden as the youngest of 3 daughters on September 13, 1935. She married her love, Marion Paul Spina, at age 16. Their marriage flourished for 72 years. Their love multiplied into 6 children. Ruth’s ability to love all and many is unmatched. The house was always full of children, but more were always welcomed to join for spaghetti on Sundays or pizza on Fridays. As her children married, Ruth’s love continued to multiply with each addition to her family--from 6 children to 12, to 16 grandchildren to their spouses, to 22 great grandchildren. From her oldest child to the youngest great grandchild, Ruth knew and loved all in every detail and interest. She loved with attentiveness, intention, and a certain intensity that many referees and umpires came to fear. She cherished her role as a personal shopper for all and was a revered softball coach to many. Her ability to plan, coordinate and gather everyone for annual beach trips and Christmas was remarkable! These gatherings provided a special opportunity for grandkids to have fun together and grow in love with each other with each memory made. It did not stop at her immediate family, she loved her nieces and friends dearly! Ruth’s knack to know and remember details of her kids lives and their friend’s lives, her grandkid’s lives and their friend’s lives is unrivaled. If asked how she could do all this, being a woman who did not waste words, she would humbly shrug it off with no answer. But her husband, Marion, being completely one with her, could answer how she did it with just one word… LOVE. After a full life of loving and serving, Ruth was called home to heaven on April 1, 2024. Ruth joins her daughter, Marianne Dunlap, grandson, Jonathan Dunlap, parents, Ethel and Larkin Loden and sisters, Doris Branton and Jean Griffiths in heaven, and will be missed by husband, Marion Spina, her children, Steve Dunlap (Marianne’s Husband), Marion Spina Jr. (Oak Shin), Cathy Velotas, Rick Spina, Provy Slade( Bill ), Roslyn Woods (Keith ), son in-law, Mike Velotas, daughter in-law, Peggy Allen, her grandchildren, Stacey Lusk (Kyle), Ben Dunlap (Kay), Bom Harris ( Aaron), Provi Berman ( Josh), Salm Gangler ( Kevin), Jimmy Velotas ( Mary), Paul Velotas ( Cara), Peter Velotas ( Stephanie), Margot Morrow ( Chris), Ricky Spina (Kate), Laura Buzin ( Jon), James Woods( Amanda), Mary Kathryn Moshier (Matthew), Thomas Woods( Courtney), Michael Woods ( Cassidy), great-grandchildren, Nolan and Addie Lusk, Violet Cakmak , Charlie and Jade Harris, Will and David Berman, Emma, Michael, Xander, Simon, James, Nate and Eleni Velotas, Christopher, George, and Margaret Morrow, Louise, James Paul and Larkin Woods, and John Mark Moshier and special niece Debbie Parrot (John) and great nephew Patrick Smith ( Amanda).
