Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Karen Camps. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Camps; his son, Scott (Juli) Camps; his cherished grandchildren, Allen Camps, Colby Camps, Lauren (Justin) McCombs, and Kristen (Johnny) Bell; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Leah, Kayla, Alyssa, Elijah, Misty, and Chloe.
Samuel was an avid reader who took pride in hard work and lifelong learning. He retired after 40 years of dedicated service at the U.S. Steel plant in Birmingham, Alabama, and was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama with an engineering degree.
Visitation will be held on January 15th at 9:30 a.m. at John’s-Rideout’s Mortuary–Elmwood Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Camps, Colby Camps, Justin McCombs, JD Whisenant, Johnny Bell, Rod Jerles, and Nick Jerles.
Samuel will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet wisdom, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on through the generations he leaves behind.
