Sam Tennenbaum Jr. age 81, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 at his home. Many in the Birmingham area knew him as “The Great Kaiser,” career wrestler of over thirty-five years. He had attended the Marion Military Institute and later took music classes at the University of Montevallo. Both singing and wrestling were Mr. Tenenbaum’s passions. He trained daily at the Jewish Community Center and became a SE heavyweight champion.
He enjoyed being active in his community and participated in church choirs in Birmingham. In recent years he sang the National Anthem at the annual Thanksgiving Montclair Run. In 2015, he co-authored an autobiography of his life, “The Unmasked Tenor.”
Mr. Tenenbaum is survived by his sisters, Nancy Roth of San Francisco, Ca and and Jan Tenenbaum-Aguet of Naples, Fl. A Graveside Service will take place Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 11:00 at Block 36 at Elmwood Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will be held the following week on Sunday December 14, 2025 at 1:00 in the senior lounge of the Levite Jewish Community Center.
