

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sam Threeton, affectionately known as "Gaga," who departed this life on June 9, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on November 18, 1942, Sam lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and an enduring love for his family.
Sam was a proud graduate of Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He furthered his education at Berry School in Rome, Georgia, and Montevallo University, laying the groundwork for a successful career. He was the dedicated owner of Tree & Turf, a business he built and nurtured with his own hands.
Beyond his professional life, Sam was a man of diverse interests and simple pleasures. He found immense joy in working outside, connecting with nature, and expressing his creativity through photography and woodworking. He had a particular fondness for old black and white movies, often losing himself in their timeless stories. And anyone who knew Sam well knew of his undeniable love for chocolate and Coca-Cola.
Above all, Sam cherished his family. He dedicated countless hours to researching his family history and background, taking immense pride in his Griswold heritage. His efforts ensured that the stories of his ancestors would live on, a testament to his deep respect for his roots and his desire to connect generations.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Curtis Threeton and Ellie Little Threeton; his sister, Lucia Barrentine; his beloved daughter, Paige Threeton; and his granddaughter, Ellie Threeton. Their memories remained close to his heart. He is survived by his devoted life mate, Linda Smith, who brought much joy and companionship into his later years. Sam's legacy lives on through his children, Jeff Threeton (Dalene), Jason Threeton, and Shannon Threeton. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Katie Threeton Hinkley (Slade), Jay Threeton, Sarah Keys, Audra DeCatur (Don), and Brynley Smith, as well as his great-grandchildren, Zoey Keys and Oakley DeCatur, who will carry his memory forward.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Sam will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery following the service.
Gaga will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, his passions, and his unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered.
