Dearest friends and family, we are deeply saddened to announce that our beautiful, adorable daughter, Susan Reneé (Susie) Funderburg of Inverness passed away Tuesday January 30th, 2024 due to heart complications. She was born September 17th, 1957 to Nita and Don Funderburg. She was a graduate of W.A. Berry High School, Academy of Art University, and Colorado Tech University, and an Employee of Cahaba Safeguard Admin LLC. Susan was blessed to have many roles as a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to many. Susan’s favorite place that she loved was Austin, Texas.
Susan is proceeded in death by her father, Donald Cargile Funderburg, Grandparents, Ozella & Otis Williams, Cratus Cargile & Andrew C. Funderburg, Sr. Cousin, Jackie Funderburg, Uncles James E. Williams, Bobbie R. Williams, H. Eugene Williams, Andrew C. Funderburg, Jr. Aunt, Betty Jo Dean and her sweet fur baby Daisy. She is survived by her mother, Nita Funderburg. Daughters Jennifer Scharett (Ricky) and Beth Adkisson (Derek). Grandchildren, Peyton Scharett (fiancé Dylan Sutton), Maddux Scharett (fiancé Austin Vickers), Avreé Scharett, Zachary Foutch and Shelby Adkission. Sister, Stephanie Funderburg Morris. Niece Ramsey Morris and nephew Remo Morris. In addition to several cousins, Teresa Collins, Brenda Fincher, Collette Funderburg, Mary Hagood, Darlene Williams, Bobby Williams, Jr., Vicki Lanzy, and Ronnie Dean, and close friends, Pam Nichols, Susan McElroy, Bridgette Daniels, Richard Wright, Lisa Woodmore, and many more, coworkers from Cahaba Safeguard Admin, LLC, and her 2 adorable fur babies, Baxter and Bella.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 2024 at John-Ridout’s Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, AL 35211, with visitation from 11:00-12:30, Service to immediately follow. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.
