Sylvia Ruth Walker

Sylvia Ruth Walker, age 87 passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. She was born in Corbin, Kentucky on January 20, 1932. She moved to Birmingham as a young girl and lived the last 50 years in Center Point. She was a longtime member of Center Crest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ronald C. Walker; and her 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Mrs. Walker is survived by her loving children, Rhonda Kimbrough, Ronald “Weasel” Walker, and Timothy Walker; grandson, Joe S. Kimbrough II and his wife, Jessica Phillips Kimbrough; and her great granddaughter, Lynn Georgia Kimbrough; a sister, Wanda Billings (Jerome); and sisters-in-law, Merle McCay and June Madden (Jim); also a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Services will be held on Thursday with visitation beginning at 1 PM followed by chapel services at 2 PM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL. Services will be officiated by her grandson, Joe S. Kimbrough II.
