Tarrah Miller Burks passed away Friday, April 19. She was 41. She is survived by her parents, Ken Jr. and Debra Burks; her daughters, Ashlyn and Emma Miller; her brother, Dan, and his wife, Reid; her grandfather, Ken Burks, Sr.; and her heartbroken, tightly-knit extended family that includes many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be remembered for her fierce love for her daughters, her knockout combination of brains and beauty, and the boldness with which she moved through life. That boldness was reflected in Tarrah's two-plus decades as a competitive dancer and, later, dance teacher; in her ability to movingly articulate her thoughts, feelings, and love for others through her writing; and in her eclectic, bohemian, and often grunge-inspired personal taste in everything from statement jewelry to music to Halloween costumes. Accordingly, such a unique woman had a unique, singular relationship with each of her many loved ones. Each of those relationships was cherished, as was she. She had battled health issues for much of her life, and her family is comforted by Tarrah's own strong faith and her salvation through Jesus Christ. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The family is appreciative of flowers or donations, made in Tarrah's memory, to the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation.
