
CRAWFORD, THOMAS N., JR., age 84, of Birmingham, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas N. Crawford, Sr. and Jennie Reed Crawford. He attended North Georgia Military College and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama with a major in mathematics, and was a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity and Pi Mu Epsilon mathematics honorary society. He taught mathematics at the University of Alabama while attending the University of Alabama School of Law, and was awarded a J.D. degree in 1952. He practiced law for 46 years with the firm of Cooper, Mitch & Crawford. He also served as attorney for the City of Pleasant Grove for 34 years. He was admitted to practice law before the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Crawford Eubanks (Jeff) of Birmingham, grandsons Crawford Glenn Eubanks and Andrew Reed Eubanks, brothers John Reed Crawford and James Lon Crawford (Anna Faye), niece Karen Crawford Roberson (Greg), nephew James Thomas Crawford, and extended family and friends. The family extends special thanks to Sandra Thomas, who cared for him during his final years, and to Annie Smith, who cared for him and his family for many years preceding. Services will be on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with family graveside burial to follow. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
