MELTON, THOMAS “TOM” ALEX SR., age 82 of Pinson, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Mabel Melton; and brother, David Melton. He is survived by his wife of 46 years or 11.5 leap years since they were married on February 29, Betty Melton; sons, Thomas “Tommy” Alex Melton, Jr. (Sharon) and Eric Grady Melton (Kimberly); daughters, Susan Gilmore (Jamie) and Victoria Hanes (Jeffrey); sister, June White; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Tom graduated from Ensley High School in 1961 and Birmingham Southern College. After working for several banks, he retired from Jack Henry and Associates after 22 years of service. He loved going to the beach, reading, Alabama football and spending time with his grandchildren. His family will celebrate his life with visitation on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel.
