

CARROLL, TIMOTHY GEORGE, age 69 of Center Point, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Hardy and Carl Guyra Carroll; and half-brother, Carl Guyra Carroll, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debra Elaine Jones Carroll; sons, Timothy Michael Carroll (Amy) of Chillacothe, Ohio and Timothy Linden Carroll; and granddaughters, Annika Carroll and Sophie Carroll. Tim graduated from Banks High School in 1961, then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962-1967. He then returned to school and graduated from Auburn University in 1970 with a degree in Entomology and later from UAB in 1986 with a degree in Nursing. He was a member of Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church and Emmaus and Kairos Prison Ministry programs. He also studied at Chabad of Birmingham and Temple Emanu El. He worked as an entomologist with the State of Alabama and as a consultant, also as a registered nurse at UAB, Medical Center East and Carraway Methodist Hospital. He was a talented artist in oil paintings and spent time as a Methodist Lay Minister. Tim loved spending time with his family and traveling all around the globe, including France, Hong Kong, African Safari and the Caribbean Islands. He also loved Auburn sports and the Atlanta Braves baseball. He enjoyed flowers and gardening and learning music. He never stopped studying different religions. Tim loved his dogs and never met a stranger. His family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. His service will be at Wilson Chapel on Friday, August 2, 2013 beginning at 11 AM with Rev. Alex Oberneder and Rev. Anthony Nabors officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, PBS of Alabama or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
