Timothy David Gray, age 70, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was filled with love, laughter, faith, and devotion to his family. He was a hardworking man with a big heart, a strong Christian faith, and a personality that could bring a smile to anyone’s face.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Neil Gray Jr. and Marie Hall Gray, and his brother, Neil Gray III.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Catherine Marilyn Gray; his daughters, Anne, Bonnie, and Carrie; and his sons, David (Allison), Danny (Dana), Donny, and Gayland. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Charles Gray (Deborah), and his sister, Janet Gray Muller (Roger), along with many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Timothy was a man who believed in hard work and could fix just about anything. He loved working with his hands, figuring out how things worked, and taking on projects that others might have given up on. He found happiness in the simple things in life, especially spending time outdoors. Camping was his happy place, where he could relax, enjoy God’s creation, and make memories with the people he loved.
One of Timothy’s greatest joys was his time spent as a Boy Scout leader. He had the privilege of learning from some of the very best, including his father, Neil Gray Jr., Charles Dudley, and Earl Dudley. These men helped shape his love for Scouting and taught him the importance of leadership, hard work, and passing along valuable lessons to the next generation. Timothy proudly carried on that tradition, serving as a Scout leader alongside his brother, Richard. Few things made him happier than hearing that another Scout camping trip or adventure was being planned. He was always ready to pack up and head outdoors, where he was truly in his element. Scouting was more than just an activity to him; it was an opportunity to make memories, share his knowledge, and help young men learn lessons they would carry with them throughout their lives. His love for Scouting and the outdoors was something he treasured deeply.
He also had a special love for model trains and spent countless hours building and perfecting his train layouts. Whether he was fixing something, working on his trains, or planning his next camping trip, he always found joy in the things he loved.
One of Timothy’s sweetest and most memorable qualities was his love for stuffed animals. No matter where he traveled, he always seemed to find a new one that just had to come home with him. It was one of those little things that made him uniquely himself and will forever bring a smile to the faces of those who knew him.
Timothy also had a sense of humor that was all his own. He was usually the first person to crack a joke, even when the timing might not have been the best. He had a way of bringing laughter into a room, and those unexpected jokes will be among the many things his family will miss most.
Above all, Timothy loved his family with his whole heart. He may have had his own way of showing that love, but it was always there. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He wasn’t a perfect man, but he was a good man, and everything he did was rooted in the love he had for those closest to him.
His Christian faith was an important part of who he was. Even during life’s hardest moments, Timothy held tightly to his belief that God was in control. He often reminded his family that God had His hands over them and that everything was going to be okay. Those words, once spoken to bring comfort during difficult times, will now be a source of strength and peace for the family he leaves behind.
Timothy’s legacy will live on through the family he loved so deeply, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the countless memories that will be treasured forever. His family will remember his hardworking hands, his love for the outdoors, his dedication to Scouting, his unexpected jokes, his growing collection of stuffed animals, and, most importantly, the love and faith that guided his life.
He was a great man, a wonderful husband, and a father whose presence can never be replaced. Although his family will miss him more than words can express, they find comfort in knowing that his faith has become sight and that he is now resting in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
Until we meet again, we will hold tightly to the words you always reminded us of: God has His hands over us, and we are going to be okay.
