Velma Thomas Jones

Born on June 9, 1935, in Oneonta, Alabama, Velma was the daughter of the late Elmer and Essie Thomas. She attended Appalachian High School and later, devoted her life to caring for her family as a loving mother and homemaker. She will be remembered for her resilient spirit, quiet strength, wisdom, and unconditional love for her family. She had a remarkable ability to face life’s challenges with grace, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Velma lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. She found joy in caring for those she loved and created a home filled with warmth, generosity, and lasting memories. Her gentle spirit and steadfast love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Essie Thomas; her first husband, Herman Rennie Jones Sr. ; her second husband, Lloyd Ingram; her son, Herman Rennie Jones Jr. ; her infant daughter, Lennecia Faye Jones; and her siblings, Willy Thomas, Winfred Thomas, and Vera Thomas Phillips

She is survived by her sons, Frank Jones (Tracy) and Barry Q. Jones (Candi); her daughter, Debra Lindsey (Tim); her brother, Elwyn Thomas (Linda); her grandchildren, Erika Lindsey, Daniel Jones (Kelly), Kenny Cordell (Katie), Katie Jones Calvert (Michael), Renlee Mac Jones, and Adlee Jones; her great-grandchildren, Caroline Jones, Elliana Cordell, Lainey Calvert, and Charlotte Jones; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing that she is at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her legacy of faith, love, strength, and devotion to her family will live on through the generations she leaves behind.
