Verne Frost

She is survived by her son, Jimmy Carlon Walker (Jenny); grandchildren, Carla Phillips (Doug) and Skip Walker (Jamie); and great grandchildren, Brooks, Tyler and Alyna.

Verne was originally from Cullman, Al and lived in Birmingham for over 65 years. She was an owner of Walkers’ Service with her husband and son for 53 years. A large part of those business years spent in East Lake and Rocky Ridge where she and Jimmy had lots of friends and customers. Verne’s parents were Lonnie and Mamie Guess of Cullman, Al. She was an Eastern Star and belonged to BPW. This beautiful, young at heart, feisty, lady passed away Saturday and will be truly missed. Her granddaughter remembers her grandmother teaching her to drive a stick shift: “floor the gas, let out the clutch and give it all you’ve got.” I did and we went squealing away from the stop sign, giggling with laughter. This is how she handled life…..floor it and go…full speed ahead and laugh about it while you go.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 12, 2016 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
