William "Bill" Bishop

William (Bill) Edward Bishop, age 89, passed away on September 18, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Betty Joe Gavin Bishop, parents Calvin Bishop and Ila Bowman, and brother James Bishop. He is survived by his sons; Thomas Bishop (Sonia) of Trussville, AL, Steve Bishop (Chieko) of Marietta, GA, Eric Bishop (Brenda) of Hoover, AL, and Gary Bishop of Hoover, AL; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and his sister Sarah Bishop Gorman, of Madera, CA. Bill was born August 12, 1931 in Draketown, GA. He was a 1950 graduate of Woodlawn High School and attended Howard College (Samford University). Bill served in the United States Air Force for four years. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 35 years of service. Bill was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. There will be a visitation Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Ridouts Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham, AL 35235. Immediately following will be a graveside service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville.
