

Bill lived to be 100 years old. He was born in Sulligent, AL. He proudly served our nation during World War II in Italy. There he was a part of a 346th Fighter Squadron with the Army Air Corp. and served as a Crew Chief on the P-51 Mustang aircraft. Bill volunteered at the young age of 21 in 1942 and served until the conclusion of the war in 1945. He was honored with a silver star and two bronze stars. Bill married Sarah (Jean) Cox his sweetheart in 1954.
He was later employed by the Frisco Railroad as an Engineer for 40 years. Mr. Cox had many hobbies over the years, such as white water rafting and parasailing in his 60’s and 70’s. Bill was also known to show off his dance moves at local VFW lodges and Senior centers. He was a member at Palmerdale United Methodist Church since 1972. He rarely missed a Sunday until Covid 19 hit. Before moving to Palmerdale, he attended Tarrant United Methodist Church.
Bill is survived by 3 sons, Philip Cox, Keith Cox, and Gary Cox (Kim), 1 daughter, Glena Cox Trammell (Scott), 4 beautiful grandchildren, Lindsey Cox, Kristen Cox, Shannon Trammell, Hannah Trammell Pencek (Tyler) and one beautiful great granddaughter Lillian Scott Pencek.
Funeral services are to be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Highway. Visitation will be at 10:00am until service time at 11:00am. There will be a small graveside service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens for family only.
