William David Greenwood Jr., age 98, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021. William was born March 10, 1923. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Petrie Greenwood;
parents, William David Greenwood, Sr. and Marie T. Greenwood; son in law, Steven McClendon.
Bill is survived by his daughter Ann G. McClendon; grandson, Michael McClendon (Meredith); great grandchildren, Phoebe McClendon and Ira McClendon.
He was a graduate of Ramsey High School and the University of Alabama. Bill served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII and he worked for Continental Can Company for 30 years until retirement.
He was a huge Alabama football fan and loved going to Legion Field and Bryant Denny Stadium on a Saturday afternoon in the fall to support the Crimson Tide. "Roll Tide."
A graveside service for Bill will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery
600 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. S.W. Birmingham, AL 35211. The procession will leave from John's Ridouts Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home to the Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Church at Chelsea Westover.
