William (Bill) Strock Harbin, July 29, 1928-February 5, 2024, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. A graveside service with military honors will be held February 9 at 2:00 pm at Elmwood Cemetery with a visitation one hour prior in the chapel of Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW. Birmingham, Alabama 35211. We asked that all those that are attending the graveside service to meet at the funeral home no later than 1:45PM and we will all process together to the gravesite.
Mr. Harbin is survived by his wife of 69 years Jane Jones Harbin; daughters Lee Harbin and Susan Harbin; grandchildren Betsy Limbaugh, Katie (Stephen) Miller, and Justin (Lauren) Limbaugh; and great-grandchildren Ethan William Miller and Austin James Miller.
He was born to the late Charles Baron Harbin and Florence Estelle Henry Harbin, grew up in Florence Alabama, and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a beloved and caring father, grandfather and mentor who nurtured the hearts and spirits of young boys and girls. He taught boys bible classes, participated in boy scout projects and opened his home to children from Childhaven children’s home. He was a member of Homewood Church of Christ.
