William Russell Johnston passed on April 13, 2026, at the age of 76. He served in Vietnam, with high medals for saving his platoon, graduated from University of Alabama, and dedicated his life to his mother, Jessie "Grandma" Johnston.
He was preceded in death by his father, E.D. Johnston; his mother, Jessie M. Johnston; his brothers, Richard "Hoss Cat" Johnston and George E. Johnston; niece, Tina Renee Johnston; great niece and nephew, Donald and Kirby Johnston.
He is survived by his sister, Peggy Brooks (Bob); niece, Kelly Bullington; nephews, Richard D. Johnston (Amanda), Daniel S. Johnston (Brandy), Dalton (Amy), Brantley (Trinity) Johnston; and grand nieces and grand nephews, Little Richard, MyMy, and MiMi Johnston.
Visitation will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, US, on April 17, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
