

William C. Moss, Jr., 92, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016, and joined his sweetheart in heaven, Doris Moss, who passed away October 11, 2016. W.C., born in Birmingham, was a Golden Gloves boxer as a teenager and attended West End High School until he joined the U.S. Air Force during World War II. When the war was over, he came back and married the girl next door, Doris Sharp. They were married 70 years and attended First United Methodist Church of Center Point. He was a third-generation carpenter building houses with his father and brother, later working for All-South Construction (formerly Bonitz Insulation), and had a crew at Central Bank/Compass Bank for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, being outdoors, and Alabama football. He is survived by his beloved sister, Robbie Moss Wilson Henson; his children Barbara Moss Brannum, Janet Moss Jones (L.G.), Karen Moss Blackwood (Ronny), and William G. Moss (Jan); his grandchildren Brad Romager (Becky), Melissa Brannum Austin (Robert), Jennifer Blackwood McElrath (John), Michael Blackwood (Aleisha), Matt Davis, Malessa D. Neilson, and Johnnie E. Baker, plus many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his wife Doris, preceding him in death were his parents William C. and Artivee Anglin Moss, brother Gene Moss, sister Helen Moss Baham, brothers-in-law Roy Baham, David Wilson, Bill Henson, Leroy Sharp, Bill Cornelius, and sister-in-law Margaret Cornelius. Although we were so blessed to have had him for 92 years, we will truly miss him every day till we’re together again. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham, AL.
