Sept 20, 1959 - Jan 27, 2024. William Barry Panter, age 64, of Birmingham, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 27, surrounded by his loving family. Barry was a 1982 graduate of Auburn University and a lifelong Auburn fan. Barry was a 4-year letterman for the Auburn University Baseball Team and played for the 1978 Southeastern Conference Champions. Barry was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he loved singing in the choir. Barry was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him and will be greatly missed. He always gave his best.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents, William Homer Panter and Doris Stansell Panter. He is survived by his daughters, Whitney Panter Maddox (Grant) and Kari Elaine Panter (Heath Keane); grandchildren Nolan Maddox, Rhyan Maddox, Wilder Keane, Milo Keane and Rory Keane; sister Donna Panter Livesay (Ken); his ex-wife turned loving friend Karen Panter, and many other loving family members.
A celebration of Barry's life will be held on Friday, February 2 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, both at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel.
