William Wesley “Bill” Wells, age 89 passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013. Bill was born and grew up in Birmingham and was employed by Interstate Brands Corp, retiring after 45 years of service. His job took him from Birmingham to New York, New Jersey, Illinois and then to Kansas. He graduated from Ensley High School and Glenn Vocational School. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Jessie Marie Leverton Wells. Survivors include his son, William Wesley Wells, Jr.; daughter, Brenda Larson (Keith); grandchildren: Kurtis Larson, Karly Wynn Larimore (Daniel) and Ashley Chiddix (Luke); sisters: Mary Catherine Smith (Jackie) and JoAnn Clements. His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Frank Sims is officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 205-251-7227 in Birmingham, AL.
