
Whitley, William “Bill” Bennett, age 80 of Center Point passed away Friday, January 27, 2012. Bill was retired from Hayes International, later known as Pemco after 40 years of service as an aeronautical draftsman. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Center Point where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Bus Ministry, and was very loving and faithful to missions and outreach such as Jimmie Hale. Bill will be greatly missed by his devoted and loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. E.J. and Stella Whitley, son- in -law, Eric King, sister- in- law Betty Whitley, and brother- in- laws , Bill Hosmer and Frank Gable.. He is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Christine Holcomb Whitley; 4 children, John (Jo C.), Mark (Mialyn), Alice Reynolds (Gary), and Amy Simpson (Tim).8 Grandchildren and 1 great grandson; 4 brothers, Jack (Helen Sue), Charles(Mila), Robert (Shirley), and J.D.(Mary Ann); 3 sisters, Eva Jo (Jim) Philpot, Lucille Hosmer, and Helen Gable.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Center Point with visitation Sunday night at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 5 til 8 PM. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Graham and Rev. Bobby Earls officiating the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the First Baptist Church of Center Point.
