

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Benson and Loundire Lawler; his son, Willie Benson, Jr.; his sister, Martha Ann Lawler; and his brother, Nathaniel Benson.
Willie was educated in the Brighton School System. He had a deep passion for lawn work and being a mechanic. He also worked for several years at Stockham Valves and Fittings.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory a devoted wife, Dortha Benson; two loving daughters, Tonya (Michael) Williams and Beverly Benson Walker; grandchildren, Teyana Benson, Kewanna Benson, Michael Bryant, Gavin Walker, and Reco Walker, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Dakari, Kamaurion, Kaydence, Jamoney, Gabriel, Gianna, Riley, and Reco; sister-in-law, Eria Mathews; brother-in-law, Carlton Carmichael; a special nephew, Tom Benson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and many customers who came to know and love him throughout the years of being a mechanic.
Willie’s life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain in our hearts forever.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 4pm until 6pm at Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel in the Celebration Chapel. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11 am at the chapel, followed by a burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
