On Thursday, July 16, 2026 our kind, beautiful mother and faithful friend Zolemma Smith Glass, died peacefully at home with her daughters by her side. She is joyfully reunited with the love of her life, our daddy and her devoted husband of 69 years, Travis Eugene Glass.
Zolemma (Zoe) was born in Cullman, Alabama on March 13, 1939. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Travis only three months ago; her mother, father, grandparents and two brothers. She is succeeded by her daughters Terissa Glass Mendum (David) and Selena Glass DeGiovanni (Mike). Six grandchildren, Andrew Christian Long (Savannah), Jonathan David Mendum, Aaron Joshua Long, Joseph William-Travis Mendum (Bryanna), River Anna Elise Long, and Adin Gene Emmanuel Long. What a joy it was for her to hold her only great grandchild Wesson Stone Mendum. She also leaves behind a special nephew and sister-in-law.
Zoe gave her life to Christ at the tender age of 12 and spent her life following him. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in the 50s. She was a devoted wife and mother loving her husband and children dearly. She loved the Lord Jesus above all and served in the church in many capacities: cradle roll, GA’s, Acteens, WMU, Sunday School teacher, church secretary, prayer leader, volunteer, and Community Bible Study substitute teacher. Mother was also a devoted daughter, sister, and friend.
Mom served her family well by providing a home full of love and acceptance. Neighborhood children would often gather there to play. She was a gifted seamstress, sewing all kinds of clothes for her family and others. She loved to sew, color, paint, cross-stitch, and crochet. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She loved to take rides in the car to look at fall colors. She loved nature, gardening, and taking immaculate care of her home. She enjoyed listening to Christian music, namely hymns but also contemporary. Mom was a prayer warrior and studied her Bible daily.
We will all miss her but we know she is healthy, happy and whole, and enjoying her time with Jesus and daddy in her eternal home.
Flowers are welcome but donations can also be made in her memory to:
