Anita Louise Foster, our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2025, at the age of 66. Anita was born on November 30th, 1958 in Bloomington. She was the daughter of Patricia (Pfaff) Lucas. She was a proud U.S. Army veteran & a member of the Second Baptist Church in Bloomington.
Anita enjoyed watching older TV shows, gospel music, and shopping, especially online shopping with Amazon. From the moment she walked into a room, she lit it up with a presence you couldn’t ignore. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger. If you were lucky enough to know her, you weren’t just a friend, you were family.
She was the life of the party no matter where she was. Whether it was a spontaneous dance in the kitchen, the loudest laugh in the room, or a heartfelt conversation, she made everyone feel seen, heard, and special in some way.
Her generosity knew no bounds. She gave with her whole heart, her time, her experience, her food, her hugs, and always showed up when you needed her most. She had an unmatched ability to make others feel at home, no matter the circumstances.
Anita didn’t live a quiet life; she lived a loud, beautiful, and fierce life, full of beautiful chaos. Her legacy is not just in the memories she leaves behind, but in the countless lives she touched and the bonds she built that will last a lifetime.
She is survived by her three sons, Brandon Drake, David Brown Jr. (Boogie), Nicholas Brown, three Goddaughters, Fatima Al-mazrui, Natalie Mojica, and Darian Brown, two sisters, June Drake and Caryl Gibson, all of Bloomington, seven grandchildren, Samira, Romi, Kyrese, Lily, Amiah, Gabe, and Keanna (Keke).
Anita was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia (Pfaff) Lucas, sister, Shannon Drake, brother-in-law, David Gibson, and grandchild, Tammi (Tyriq) Bridgewaters.
