Barbara Mae Clark

Barbara Mae Clark, 96, of Bloomington received her heavenly reward on Saturday, March 14, 2025. She was born to parents Harold and Alberta Wheeler on September 15,1928 in Lafayette, Indiana. She was a 1946 graduate of Brazil High School.

Barbara married Loren W Clark on January 21,1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana and were happily married until his passing in 1979.

Barbara is survived by sons Stephen D. (Beverly) Clark of Lansing, Michigan, and David L. (Teresa) Clark of Bloomington, Indiana. Her grandchildren Aaron, Kevin, Matthew, David(Brett), Lauren, thirteen great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gerry Wheeler, and her husband, Loren W. Clark.

To say she was active in her community would be an understatement as a past president of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, member of Altrusia, the Bloomington Northside Exchange Club, John Purdue Club of Purdue, the former Treasurer of the Monroe County Purdue Club and the PETA Board in the Assessor’s office.

Barbara was a lady of faith having been a member of the First Christian Church of Bloomington and a member of the Bible Study Fellowship.

She was also highly active in the Monroe County Republican Party have served as Vice Chairman for sixteen years, twelve years as the Monroe County Treasurer, eight years as Monroe County Auditor and four years in the Monroe County Prosecutor’s office.

Barbara received the Sagamore of the Wabash which is the highest award given out in the State of Indiana in 1980 and she was awarded the Monroe County Republican Party Lifetime Achievement Award.

Visitation services will be held for Barbara at the Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral home at 4150 East 3rd Street Bloomington, Indiana 47401 on Friday, March 21st, 2025, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. There will be visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday March 22nd, 2025, with funeral services to follow at 11:00am at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 7500 Clinton Road Terre Haute, Indiana 47805.
