

Barbara Jeanne Henn, age 79, of Bloomington went to her heavenly home Tuesday at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born August 2, 1936 in Beech Grove, Indiana, she was the daughter of George L. and Kathryn (Stewart) Henn. She retired as a librarian with Indiana University Libraries. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Barbara is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Judy Henn, of Lakeland, Florida, one niece, Debra Monachino, of Florida, one nephew and his wife, Jason and Leticia Henn, of Arizona and many friends and close acquaintances.
Barbara attended Manual High School in Indianapolis and earned her bachelor’s degree at Concordia University, Chicago, Illinois. After completing her master’s degree at Indiana University, she served the IU libraries in many capacities. These included the IU Regional Campuses Services Center, the Business School library, and the Acquistions, Automated Processing and Government Documents departments. She was an active member of the American Library Association, the Indiana Library Association, and the Regional Group of Technical Services Librarians.
Barbara loved to travel in both Europe and the United States. She enjoyed river boat tours including the Mississippi and the Rhine. Her travels took her with friends to France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Ireland. Barbara was an ardent sports fan and frequently traveled to NCAA tournaments following the Hurrying Hoosiers. She loved music and books and more books, and animals-especially her dogs. Barbara enjoyed dining out with friends, and Barbara loved chocolate.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Fenstermacher officiating. Burial will follow on Tuesday afternoon at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Monroe County Humane Association.
