

Carole Butcher, age 82, of Bloomington, passed on to be with Jesus and her late husband, Arnold K. Butcher, whom she married September 29, 1945, Saturday evening at her residence with her family gathered around her. Born January 7, 1930 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Ollan and Pina G. (Wiles) May. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Pentecostal faith and served as a founding member and Sunday school teacher at Soul’s Harbor Apostolic Church. While Arnold was in the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Connelly in Atlanta, Georgia, she was involved with the W.W. II service club serving pies to the enlisted men. After Arnold was deployed to Japan to teach the Japanese auto repair she returned back home to Bloomington where she began work at R.C.A. She later served as the head cook for MCCSC at Templeton Elementary from 1960 to 1970 and a past-president of the Food Association for the school corporation. She had also volunteered for Hospice and the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
She is survived by her son and daughter -in-law, Rev. David A. and Barbara Butcher, of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, April Cannon, Aaron Butcher (Heather), Isaiah Butcher (Naomi), Alayna Carole Hawkins (Dusty), Matthew Reeves (Heather), Andrea Reeves and Alexander Ollan Reeves (Catherine) and ten great-grandchildren, Caleb, Akilah, Devin, Shelby, Alexis, Madeline, Anthony, Mareck, Waylon, and one due in the Spring. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Conita Lynn Reeves and her brother, Philip Joe May.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Soul’s Harbor Apostolic Church with Rev. Fred Stanger and her son, Rev. David Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the church.
