Betty J. Harshman

Betty Joan Harshman, age 90, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living in Bloomington. Born December 26, 1931 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Everett D. and Winnie “Ruby” (Ritter) Bennett. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and crafts. She also loved any babies she came in contact with. She enjoyed exercising. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Dianna Higgins, of Ellettsville, Kay Nash, of Ossian, Indiana, Becky (Brad) Cummins, of Germantown, Tennessee and James (Jana) Harshman, of Bloomington, one sister, Pauline Meadows, of Fremont, Indiana, ten grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harmon Harshman, on January 8, 1998, two brothers, Vernon Bennett and James Bennett, one sister, Nancy Sexton and one grandson, Ben Higgins.

The funeral service will be at 12 noon Wednesday at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home.
