Obituary of Betty Jane Wikle
Betty Jane Wikle, age 94, of Bloomington, passed away Tuesday morning, April 30, 2024 at Majestic Health Care in Bloomington. Born December 13, 1929 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Roy and Sarah (Chandler) Campbell. Betty retired from R.C.A. where she worked in assembly and formerly at Sarkes Tarzian. Betty sang country music on the radio in her younger years as well as yodeling. She enjoyed fishing and loved family cook-outs. She was a great cook and was of the Christian faith. We cherish your love and honor your life. You’ve given so much to each of us, and we will carry on your memory through all of us. Your love, kindness and grace are what we will all remember. You were a wonderful Wife. Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma and perfect Great-Great-Grandma. We will remember all the spending the night, family gatherings, fishing trips, Christmas times, horseshoe matches, singing along with the radio and much, much more. You were a light to us all and we will miss you greatly. Betty is survived by her two dauughters; Julia Lee and Virginia Lucille Hudson, both of Bloomington; two sons, Roy Wade Fipps, of Bloomington and Charles Robert (Julie) Fipps, of Ellettsville, one sister, Doris Levato, of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Scott Lee, Lori (Randy) Brown, Lisa (Geno) Ramage, Carrie (Paul) Turner, Ryan (Sarah) Fipps, Wendi (Chris) Reynolds, Becky (Pat) Montgomery, Charli (Robbie) Sparks and Gina (K.C.) Cholke and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Kelso Bowers, second husband, Charles Fipps, third husband, Ermil “Red” Wikle, three sisters, Joan Gose, Lillian Knight and Helen Baker, one brother in infancy, Robert Campbell, two sons-in-law, Ron Hudson and Gary Lee and one daughter-in-law, Kathy Fipps. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
