Beverly A. (Carpenter) Walker passed away October 31, 2020 at Garden Villa surrounded by her sons and daughter. Beverly was born in Bloomington August 6, 1932 to Matthews J. and Irene (Royer) Carpenter. She grew up in Spencer, IN until she was a senior in high school when her family moved to Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1950. After graduation she worked at RCA briefly before moving on to Indiana Bell Telephone Co. where she worked for over 35 years as a secretary and supervisor before retiring in March of 1988. She married Carl Robert “Bob” Walker on April 5, 1958 and were married almost 60 years until the time of his passing. While at Bell she joined and volunteered with the Indiana Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers where she held every executive office including president and continued to serve the community through the Pioneers long after her retirement. She loved to sew clothes and crochet blankets for her family. Upon retirement she decided that if she wanted to see her husband, she better take up golf, which she did and enjoyed Jack n Jill outings with Bob along with playing in the ladies group, where she met many friends at the Cascades Golf Course. Bev was quite the cook which she learned from her mother and would host many family holiday gatherings, especially July 4th. She was a long time member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. She was very proud of her family which she loves very much especially her loving husband of almost 59 years Bob. She is survived by sons John F. (Cindy) Walker; Ellettsville, Indiana and David (Donna) Walker, of Lafayette, Indiana, stepdaughters Beverly McClure, of Bloomington and Jennifer (Roy) Matthews, of Cleveland, Tennessee. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and sister in law Joyce Carpenter. We are so sorry for your loss. We have many fond memories of good times on Cascade Drive. Bob and Bev were such great neighbors to my parents, Ellen and Marion Stout. Bev was a wonderful person and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Beverly was my stepmother since I was almost 4 years old. Through the following 62 years, Beverly took really good care of my Dad and her family. She had an awesome gift of hospitality for her friends and family, always holding family get-togethers on the holidays. She and my Dad were always there to love and care for and give to friends and family. She loved it when she was surrounded by her family, especially during the holidays. I am so thankful she was a part of my life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
