
Boyd Wesley Sturdevant, Sr. age 86, of Bloomington, died Tuesday morning at his residence. Born August 2, 1925 in Bloomington, he was the son of Daniel Wesley and Myrtle May (Rainey) Sturdevant. He was a retired Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and as a high school administrator. He was very dedicated to the U.S. Navy and to education. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bloomington, the V.F.W., American Legion, I.U. Alumni Association, Indianapolis Murat Shrine, Bradenton, Florida Scottish Rite and a 50 yr. member of Monroe Lodge #22 Free and Accepted Masons.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou (Hetherington) Sturdevant, of Bloomington; one son and daughter-in-law, Boyd W. Jr. and Sally Sturdevant, of Unionville; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Greg Smith, of Bagdad, Kentucky, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Saturday at Valhalla Memory Gardens with entombment to follow afterwards. Military rites will be performed at the service. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington where a Masonic memorial service will be performed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Shriner’s Hospital or to the Bloomington First Christian Church
