

She was born on December 19, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, to Harry E. and Jeanette Hammond. She graduated from Providence High School in Chicago in 1958. After high school she attended De Paul University earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1962. In 1965 she married Oliver Feschyn of Elmwood Park, Illinois, her husband of 46 years. She worked as a teacher in the Chicago area until relocating to Bloomington, Indiana in 1972. In 1981 she completed her Master of Arts degree from Indiana University focusing on English. She touched many peoples’ lives working with dyslexic individuals, volunteer tutoring, and working with religious education programs.
Carole was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church since coming to Bloomington in 1972. Besides volunteering in their religious education program, she also served as a lector.
She had many hobbies, most importantly cherishing her five grandchildren. She loved to come to any events in which her grandchildren participated. She was very generous and took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren. She also loved to hang out with her best friend of 38 years, Jill Mitchell Alexander. She loved animals, specifically horses and dogs. She also enjoyed reading, writing short stories, and watching her favorite TV shows and cheering for her favorite sports teams.
Carole is survived by her husband of 46 years, Oliver Feschyn. She is also survived by her three children Paul (Meredith) Feschyn of Greenwood, Indiana; Anthony (Kelly) Feschyn of Bloomington, Indiana; and Rosanne Dye of Bloomington, Indiana. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Alexandra (Michael Dahlstrom), Nicholas, and Ryan Dye of Bloomington, Indiana; and Brianna and Timmy Feschyn of Bloomington, Indiana. She is also survived by her best friends Neil and Jill Alexander. Finally she is survived by her four dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her brother-in-law, her sister-in-law, and her in-laws.
Visitation will be Monday, July 23, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third Street.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 4607 W. State Road 46.
Carole will be laid to rest at St. Nicholas Cemetery, 8901 W. Higgins Road, Chicago, Illinois.
