Charles William Hay

Mr. Charles (Chuck) William Hay, age 87, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at IU Health Hospice House. Chuck was born on July 21, 1938, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to parents Carl Hay and Lillie Bourquin.

He married his soulmate, Ruth Elizabeth (Guest) Hay, on November 1, 1960. Chuck was an Army veteran, and after his service to his country, he served the community as a builder and painter for English Construction, whom were close friends.

Chuck was a lover of hunting, fishing, camping, and classic cars and trucks. You didn’t have to be around him long to absolutely fall in love with him; he was truly a sweetheart.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Ruth; his niece, whom he loved more like a daughter, Cheryl (Geoffrey) Owen; granddaughter Hallie Renae Owen; and sister Rebecca Kaufman.

Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda Lynn Hay, who died in infancy, and his sisters Kay Burke and Mary Brummett.

Visitation will be held this Friday October 10th, 2025, from 4:00PM-8:00PM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home located at 4150 E. Third Street Bloomington, IN 47401. Funeral service will be on Saturday October 11th, 2025, beginning at 11:00AM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home located at 4150 E. Third Street Bloomington, IN 47401. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens at 310 North Johnson Avenue Bloomington, IN 47404 following the services.
