Daniel "Danny" Owen Sturgis

Born March 17th, 1961 in Bloomington, Indiana, son of the late Robert C. "Bob" Sturgis, Sr and Patricia (Gray) Sturgis.

Danny was a Senior Manager/Team Leader at the Toyota plant in Georgetown, where he’s recently moved after transferring from Jackson, Tennessee. Born and raised in Bloomington, Danny graduated from Edgewood High School in 1979, after which he attended University of Evansville and then transferred to the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan where he studied Electrical Engineering – a lifelong passion which Danny turned into a very successful career which took him around many states over the last 30 years – most of the Midwest as well as a few years down south in Louisiana.

He loved days out boating on the lake, riding his motorcycle, classic cars and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Danny is survived by his son Christopher Sturgis of Spencer, Indiana, his daughter and son-in-law Heather and Sebastian Horton of Pershore, England, his son and daughter-in-law Brandon and Elisabeth Sturgis of Bloomington, his brother and sister-in-law Bob and Fran Sturgis, his sister Debra Sturgis, two nieces Stephanie Sturgis and Lucy Lankford, and six grandchildren, Stella Horton, Jackson Sturgis, Ethan Horton, Emma Sturgis, Hugo Horton and Charlotte Sturgis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Joseph (Joey) Sturgis.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday the 1st February at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. in Bloomington with Pastor Josh Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit the family at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
