David Owen Myers, 72, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on May 14, 2026 — one day after his birthday. Born and raised in Bloomington, David spent his entire life rooted in southern Indiana.
David built a long career with AT&T, where he worked in a variety of roles over the years. He was a man who worked with his hands and took pride in it. But it was the outdoors where David was most fully himself. He was an avid hunter, with a particular passion for duck hunting. He could also often be found fishing the waters of southern Indiana or combing the woods for morel mushrooms — a pastime he shared with his late sister, Candice. Above all, he was at his core, a child at heart.
David is survived by his son, Bryce (Lisa) Myers of Atlanta; his daughter, Alyssa (Josh) Davern of Bloomington; a nephew, Bill Eads of Bloomington; an uncle, Sonny Owen of Bloomington; an aunt, Susie Williams of Bloomington; and four grandchildren whom he adored: Clark and Hadley Myers, and Owen and Alexis Davern. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank William Myers and Betty Louise Myers, and his sister, Candice Myers Brazzill.
Private interment will take place at Valhalla Memory Gardens. A celebration of David’s life will take place at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home on Monday, June 1 at 5:00pm ET.
