Obituary of Donald Robert Stephenson
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Donald, of Nashville, IN. Don was a member of the, ‘Friends of Brown County State Park’. Who touched many hearts with his ever positive outlook on life and his “handyman” can-do spirit. Don was a graduate of Ellettsville High School and retired as a general manager of a stamping shop at a tool and die factory in Elkhart, Indiana. He was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bloomington, 32nd member of the Galesburg, Illinois Free and Accepted Masons and Scottish Rite. He was known as the “Mayor” of Town Hill in Nashville. Don is survived by his wife Carolyn (Fogleman) Stephenson whom he married 65 years ago in 1953. And his four children: Lou Ann Smith of Galesburg, IL. Vickey Marshall, of Whitestown, IN; sons, Mike (Debbie) Stephenson of Nixa, MO and Mark Stephenson of Pueblo, CO. Don also has 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Barbara Lou Cox and two sons-in-law, Chuck Smith and Paul Marshall. May the memories of his smiling face and his always available, “helping hands” ease the pain that so many of his family and friends are feeling. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. in Bloomington. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be forwarded to the, ‘Friends of Brown County State Park,’ in Don’s memory or to I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice. Carolyn and family want to thank all of you for the outpouring of support over the many years as a resident and former business owner of Yesterday’s Lore, in the warmhearted, Nashville, Brown County community. We wish you all many Blessings in the years to come. In Don’s memory, Amen.
